China's Spirit Music Ensemble (CSME) is founded and directed by Wei Hou, Chinese Wind Instrumentalist, and Winnie Wong, guzheng soloist. This partnership traveled from opposite ends of the world and united in America. Wei Hou was given his talent and training in Beijing, China and Winnie Wong was given her training right here in San Francisco, California. Though provided their knowledge and experiences from different parts of the world, they share the same drive and passion in their culture and music. Their dream is to share and promote cultural experiences through performing arts, give back to the community and share with the world what they are so fortunately humbled with - their love and passion for music.

Through the past five years, CSME’s hard work has earned them much recognition in the world or performing arts. Their students have been invited to perform for corporate functions, educational events, festivals and the annual Youth Arts Festival which selects their performing groups through audition only. Their performance and discipline on and off stage has earned them a respected place in the public’s heart. Their members are diverse in age, culture and experience, however through the training of Winnie Wong, they are united through their passion for beautiful music.

Pulse got their start and is probably best remembered as the house band at the Kanzaki Lounge. Pulse was one of a handful of popular Asian American bands at a time when the Bay Area music scene for Asian Americans was at a high. Pulse built a tremendous following in the 80’s among young Asian Americans in the area. Almost 25 years later, the core members of Pulse is still going strong. Over the years, the band has strived to remain true to its goal of providing eclectic, feel good dance music. The band performs primarily at local clubs and community events.
